How the Rotary VOIP's

On Thursday evening December 2nd the Taunton Rotary club hosted its second annual fund-raising auction. The charity auction is the primary fund-raising event for the rotary club. “The auction was a huge success,” stated Peter Roache, the Rotary Club President. “Last year was very cumbersome for our call-in bidders. We had to use multiple, individual telephone numbers which made it very difficult to get through. Not this year! Everyone who called got through on one number thanks to Quality Connections and their Internet phone solution.”

Rotary members manned the phone bank, while other members took 30-minute sessions at hosting the event. Televised on Taunton’s cable access channel, items were showcased for bidding, in 30-minute segments. The success to this year’s auction was immediately apparent when a large number of calls rang into a Quality Connections VoIP phone bank where rotary members answered the phones.

“We cannot thank Quality Connections enough, said Mike Quinn, Vice President. ” They provided our phone bank using their newest technology.” Brothers, Stephen and David May installed the 6 telephones for the auction 2 hours before the event began. “All we need is a high-speed Internet connection, to connect and configure all these phones,” said Stephen May. “Our VoIP technology works extremely well, and we proved it tonight.” VoIP technology is the latest use of the Internet and is revolutionizing telephone service. Calls are very inexpensive using the Internet. Direct IP to IP address calls are free and can be programmed in seconds on QC IP telephones on one of the 21 buttons. Internet telephony provides all of the benefits of large sophisticated telephone systems, but is easily configured and set up for smaller uses and small businesses who have multiple locations and need to contact them anywhere at the touch of a button.

“The quality of service has gotten much better, meaning the sound is often better than wireless and landline telephones,” said David May. “We are providing business-level class of service that no other company is providing today. Hosting our own system gives us the clear advantage over other companies providing simply dial tone. Many companies require the caller to dial 22 digits to complete a call. We can do it with the touch of a button.”

Rotary members were impressed with the IP telehones, as they took turns answering the incoming calls from bidders. It was easy, and sounded great, stated one member. Quality Connections came in, set it up, and just made it work, said George Clajezzi, last nights host. We thought we were going to be using our cell phones. These are really cool phones and this is great! ”

Over one hundred items were auctioned off last night. Many of the Items were sports collectables and electronics. The rotary club raises money in order to give back to the Taunton community, and to provide assistance were needed. “We know who to call for our telephones again next year.”
